Kohl Center Events

The Kohl Center is an indoor sports venue that’s owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. While technically located off-campus, the venue is a short walk from the Wisconsin campus. The Kohl Center opened in 1998 and serves as the primary home of the Wisconsin men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the Wisconsin men’s hockey team. It’s also used to host high school sports and other campus events, including concerts. For basketball games, the Kohl Center has a capacity of over 17,000 fans, while hockey games have a capacity of over 15,000 fans.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at the Kohl Center

For both basketball and hockey games at the Kohl Center, sections 107-109 and 121-123 will get fans the closest to the action. Sections 207-209 and 221-223 are also a good option because they are close to the center of the court or ice but in the second level of the venue, providing a better view of the entire playing surface. It’s also worth noting that sections 123 and 124 are located behind the Wisconsin bench, while sections 120 and 121 are behind the visiting team’s bench.

Tips for Visiting the Kohl Center

The Kohl Center has a rather advantageous location being on the outskirts of the Wisconsin campus. It’s a short walk from many of the campus bars and restaurants, all of which are great for visiting before or after a game at the Kohl Center. The Wisconsin campus itself is also worth exploring if the weather is nice. Fans should also have an easy time finding parking within a few blocks of the arena without paying too much.

Food to Try at the Kohl Center

The concession items offered at the Kohl Center aren’t too crazy, but there are plenty of good options available. The sausages and brats in the arena are the best items available at most concession stands without having to walk too far to find them. There is also a nice selection of burgers and pulled pork sandwiches available. Finally, fans won’t have to look too hard to find tasty dessert options like ice cream in the Kohl Center.
